My London guide, Part 4: Shopping and a few extra tips

Tro det eller ej; shopping er faktisk ikke det, jeg gør allermest i London. Jovist, jeg elsker at besøge butikkerne og jeg glæder mig altid til at finde ud af, hvad de kan tilbyde på plus size-fronten, men det er egentlig sjældent, at jeg køber en helt masse med hjem. Når jeg er ude at rejse, vil jeg ligeså gerne bruge tiden på at se smukke steder, slappe af og nyde livet end at kigge på butikker. Men her kommer lige en kombineret dansk og engelsk liste over de få butikker, som jeg altid besøger:

Believe it or not; shopping isn't what I spend most time on, when I'm in London. Sure, I love going to the different stores and I always look forward to finding out what the city has to offer when it comes to plus size shopping. I don't come back home with much though. When I'm travelling I'd rather spend time seeing beautiful places, relaxing and enjoying life. But here's a combined Danish and English list with the few stores I always make sure to visit: 

London Plus size shopping, Oxford Street: Jeg er altid i // I always go to:

- Dorothy Perkins

- Evans, near Marble Arch

- New Look: Den der ligger i nærheden af Tottenham Court Road og som har en Starbucks midt i det hele har deres Inspire-kollektion som er plus size // The one near Tottenham Court Road that has a Starbucks instore too (win!) carries the Inspire range, which is plus size. 

- Primark (selvom det ikke er decideret plus size kan du gøre gode fund, fordi de stopper ved str. 20, for ikke at nævne vildt billige accesories // it's not really a plus size store, but you can find really cute clothing up to size 20 - not to mention really cheap accesories)

Udover disse butikker, er jeg vild med at gå i // Besides these plus size stores I like to go to:

- Whittards of Chelsea: god te og lækker kakao // great tea and delicous cocoa 

- Waterstones, Picadilly Circus: den største bogforretning i Europa, så hvis du kan lide bøger er det the place to go // The biggest book store in Europe. If you're into books this is the place to go! 

- Urban Outfitters: For når man ikke bor i København, må man tage imod glæden, når den byder sig! // Because when you don't live in Copenhagen (which is the only city in Denmark that has an Urban outfitters) you have to take in the joy, when it's there. 

Andre tips // Other tips: 

Det er ikke fordi jeg ligger inde med en helt masse overlevelsestip til storbyen, men jeg har da et par stykker, som jeg selv har haft glæde af:

- Husk(!), at det er helt umuligt at nå alting! Så tag den med ro, nyd livet, nå det du når og glæd dig så over, at man altid kan komme tilbage til London. Det ligger jo heldigvis ikke på den anden side af jorden. 

- Rejs med Oyster Card. Køb det på en station, når du ankommer til byen. Det koster £5 i depositum og så fylder du et valgfrit beløb på - i hvert fald hvis du vælger "top up as you go"-versionen. Og det kan altså godt betale sig. Den stopper selv med at trække penge, når du har rejst nok til at det ville kunne betale sig at købe en dagsbillet - til gengæld betaler du ikke for en dagsbillet, hvis du ikke når at bruge metroen så meget. Smart! Og du kan få dit depositum og eventuelt resterende penge udbetalt, når du skal hjem igen. Kortet er desuden nemt at fylde flere penge på, hvilket du gør ved Oyster-maskinerne på stationerne.

It's not that I have a lot of tips for surviving the big city, but I have got a few that I've found useful:

- First of all; remember(!) that you can't do everything you want to do - there's just not enough time! So take it easy, enjoy life and be happy that you can always come back again. 
- Travel with Oyster Card. Buy it on a station when you arrive - you'll pay a £5 deposit and decide how much you want to put on the card if you choose the "top up as you go"-version. And you should. It won't make you pay more than a one day ticket anyway, but if it should happen that you don't travel much one day you don't have to pay the full amount for a one day ticket. You just pay for what you use. You can get the £5 refunded if you take your card to a station before you leave and if you have extra money on the card by then you'll get a refund for them as well. And it's really easy to top up as you go, by the way. You just do that at the Oyster machines at the station.
