Vacation days #2: Barcelona

Nu hvor jeg har siddet med mit hoved begravet i mit speciale hele dagen i et ret koldt klima, føles det meget godt at kunne gå varme billeder igennem på computeren - selvom jeg nemt kommer til at savne det lidt. Vi havde en utroligt dejlig tur med alt hvad dertil hører at smukke gamle kirker og lækker, lækker tapas. Vi havde også en del regnvejr, men heldigvis var der allermest sol og sommerstemning! 

Det her bliver den sidste omgang af billeder fra turen til Barcelona - næste "stop" bliver vores bilferie til Frankrig.

My head's been burried in my master thesis today and the weather is cold here so it feels good to be able to go through these photos on my computer - even though I can't help but miss it a bit. We had a lovely trip. Visited several old, beautiful churches, had a lot of great tapas - just like you're supposed to do when you're in Barcelona. We had a few rainy days, but luckily the sun was out even more!

This will be the last photospam from the trip to Barcelona - next "stop" will be our trip to France.

Vacation days #1: Barcelona

Den sidste måned har jeg brugt en del tid på ikke at være hjemme. For nylig er jeg kommet hjem fra en dejlig bil-tur til Frankrig, som I kommer til at høre mere om senere. Men for at holde lidt styr på kronologien vil jeg starte med at dele nogle billeder fra Barcelona, hvor jeg tog ned for en måneds tid siden. Jeg var der med min mormor, mor og søster og tilsammen var vi så fire generationer af piger af sted, hvis vi tæller Frø inde i maven med. 

Vi havde en rigtig dejlig tur. Vi gik en masse, nød solen og varmen, spiste en masse lækker tapas og hyggede. Der blev shoppet lidt og vi så en helt masse smukke steder. Vi havde lejet en lejlighed lige midt i byen og det var simpelthen så rart at have et sted at trække sig tilbage til. Det gav os også mulighed for at gå på opdagelse i de supermarkederne og lave vores helt egen tapas hjemme i lejligheden, hvor vi havde afslappede aftener med snak og kortspil. 

Billederne i indlægget her er taget i løbet af de første par dage i byen - der fejrede vi blandt andet min mors fødselsdag ved at gå på opdagelse i Gaudis smukke La Sagrada Familia og et par dage efter tog vi i Parc Güell. Man kan jo altså ikke tage til Barcelona uden at se en helt masse Gaudi, men så er det jo bare ekstra godt, at hans værker er så vanvittigt smukke.

During the last month I've spend a lot of time on not being home. Recently I got home from a lovely vacation in France and you'll hear more about that sometime in the nearest future. But to keep things somehow chronological I'll start by showing you photos from Barcelona. A month ago I went there with my grandmother, mother and sister and together with "little Frog" inside of me we were four generations of girls on the go. 

We had a lovely trip. We walked alot, enjoyed the heat and the sun, had a lot of deliciuos tapas and had a good time. We did a little shopping and saw some amazingly beautiful places. We rented an apartment in the middle of town and it was so nice to have a place of our own to stay. Most nights we made our own tapas in the apartment kitchen and relaxed, talked and played card games. 

The photos in these post were taken during the first couple of days in the city - we celebrated my mums birthday by taking her to Gaudi's beautiful La Sagrada Familia and a couple of days later we went to Parc Güell. You can't really go to Barcelona without enjoying a lot of Gaudi at the same time - but his work is beautiful and amazing so that's fine by me! 

OOTD: Beautiful Barcelona

 Da jeg var i Barcelona fik jeg mig en ny fotograf - min mor var sød og tålmodig og faktisk ret god, hvis jeg skal sige det selv! Så tak for billederne, mor. 

Billederne her er taget efter en lang dag, hvor vi havde gået op og ned af Ramblaen. Her fik jeg blandt andet lov til at snuse og røre i den første Violeta by Mango butik, jeg nogensinde har været i. Det var lidt som at være barn i en slikbutik, selvom jeg må indrømme, at der var lidt for meget polyester alle steder. Ikke at jeg aldrig køber polyester med mig hjem - det sker endda ofte! Jeg vil bare helst ikke have, at det er hoveddelen af min garderobe og Violetas priser er ikke de billigste i verden, så jeg så gerne at tøjet var lidt mere lækkert at røre ved. 

Nu lyder det næsten som om, at jeg har haft mine fedtede fingre på samtlige styles i butikken - og det tror jeg egentlig også næsten, at jeg havde. Nogle nåede måske at synes, at jeg trak tiden lige rigeligt, men jeg blev simpelthen nødt til at få oplevelsen med - for ikke at tale om, at det var den eneste plus size-forretning jeg kom forbi på ferien. Og jeg kom selvfølgelig ikke helt tomhændet derfra. Det er klart.

When I was in Barcelona I got myself a new photographer - my mum was sweet and patient and actually really good, if I must say so myself! Thank you for the pictures, mum! 

These pictures were taken after a long day on the Rambla. Among other stores we had been to the first ever Violeta by Mango store I have visited. Yay, for being able to touch and feel and see all the clothes in real life. It was kinda like being a kid in a candy shop, but I must say there was a bit too much polyester among the styles. Not that I never buy polyester - it happens quite often! But I don't want it to be the main part of my wardrobe and since Violetas prizes aren't excactly the cheapest out there I would have loved it if the fabric was nicer to touch. 

I'm making it sound like I touched every single piece in the store, and it might not be too far from the truth either. Some might have thought I spend a little too much time in there but I had to take it all in - not to talk about it being the only plus size store I came across on the trip. And I didn't go all empty handed. Of course.

La Basilica Galeria stole my heart

Yesterday I promised you to tell you more about the jewelry place in Barcelona that welcomes you with this beautiful lady:

And let me just start by saying that this is by no way a sponsored post. It's just an expression of my imediate and overwhelming fascination of the place and I've been wanting to write about it ever since.
The place is called La Basilica Galeria (just click the link and you will come straight to their website) and is filled with contemporary art and beautiful jewelry. It's near to the Cathedral and we stumbled across it by coincidence, but I guess it won't be too difficult to find it again - or for the first time; if you go to Barcelona be sure to bring you euros and your but by this store!

Inside you will meet this wonderful, beautiful lady. She's called Carmen and is covered in swarovski crystals. If you want, as far as I remember, you can talk about the price with the designer. And here's another thing I loved about this place; this piece along with others comes with a beautiful story. Carmen is a woman-cameleon and desperate to fit in she changes her identity whenever she meets someone new. She changes physically as well as mentally and she even turns into an animal when she's among animals and becomes tree-like when she's among plants.

This story about the social construct and the ever changing nature of our identity echoed in my head as I went further into the gallery. It reminded me that I could be whomever I want to be and wear whatever I want to wear, because that would just be another aspect of my flowing identity. And maybe that's why I fell in love with almost every single piece of jewelry in the shop - 'cause I have to admit; there was a lot of very beautiful, simple pieces but they were all accompanied by very strange (but still very beautiful!) statement pieces. And some of them weren't my style at all. But in the end they all made me smile, 'cause they were beautiful in their own ways. All of them. And in the end; If I want a big scull or a yellow rubber duck-ring to be my style - then I can just be that girl! 

However. I didn't have the money to bring all the pieces I loved home with me. I litterally went around the shop and declared my love to another piece every few seconds. I actually almost left without anything because I didn't really have the money. But I had my Visa-card with me and after leaving the shop emptyhanded but with a stomach ache from sadness (I know... it sounds crazy and shopahollic-like), I went back and bought my self a small box with beauty inside. 

As long as I call it (one of) my birthday gift(s) to myself it's alright. Especially since I've been looking for swallow earings for ages. And these just melted my heart right away;

I can't believe I've been to three wonderful cities this summer. It's been great and I'm so happy I did it. It's been a week since I got home. So here's a few pictures from beautiful Barcelona and a few words to go along with them to tell you about my trip.

On the first night we fell in love with the evening sky. On the first picture is a "sky view" of Placa Espanya and this
one is the view from our hotel room on the 5th floor.

We also fell in love with the view over the city and the "love locks" in Parc Güell. Behind me you can see the
beautiful La Segrada Familia.

As you can probably tell already we did a lot of falling in love. This isn't a exception.
This pretty doll sat outside a wonderful/beautiful/funny/talented jewelry store
that stole my heart. I will tell you more later - I promise.

And how can you not fall in love with this? I was thrilled all the way through the entire La Boqueria market.

I really enjoyed walking around watching amazing street art.

And this burger place... I can tell you; we went there more than once. Let me know if you're going to Barcelona
and need the adress - it is SO good!

We got to see a really beautiful bride at Santa Maria Del Mar and a little
sneak peak of the wedding and the beautiful church as well.

And of course we went to the beach.

And how can you help not to fall in love with the small Spanish streets?
