Sunday Look Back (Week #44)

Min mor opdagede min blog i denne uge.

To tell you the truth - nothing really happened this week. So I'm going to skip the bullet-point part. The week just went by. I guess no news is good news. Apart from a few beautiful mornings, a few nice evenings and a lovely Saturday spent with my boyfriend I've got nothing to say. Well, it's not all true. My mom stumbled across my blog - hi mom! It's not that I was keeping it a big secret, I just haven't showed it to my family and most friends yet. I guess it'll happen sooner or later. Anyway! She said she liked it. And that makes me happy!

Another Tuesday Sunday Look Back (#week 43)

Once again I succeeded in "forgetting" to do my Sunday Look Back Post on Sunday. Actually I didn't really forget it, I just really didn't have the time. Things like that happens when you're living life. As I said last time I made a Tuesday Sunday Look Back I have no idea if anyone comes by with the only purpose to read about my week. If anyone did so - I am really, really sorry!

But I really did have a rather nice week, so it wouldn't be fair not to dedicate a Look Back to it.

This week's ups:

  • Jeg var til et rigtig interessant foredrag om organdonation / I went to a really interesting lecture on organ donation.
  • Min kæreste og jeg var ude at shoppe og jeg har købt endnu en "one size fits all"-trøje / Me and my boyfriend went shopping a bit - once again I bought a "one size fits all"-shirt.
  • Jeg bestilte og modtog de smukkeste sommerfuglehalskæder fra Ladybirdlikes / I ordered and recieved the most beautiful butterfly-necklaces from Ladybirdlikes.
  • Jeg var til en vidunderlig god koncert med Tina Dickow / I went to wonderful concert with the lovely Tina Dico.
  • Inden koncerten hyggede min søster, min kæreste og jeg os på café med lækker mad / Before the concert my sister, my boyfriend and I had a nice dinner at a cozy café.
My boyfriend and I had a nice weekend babysitting his nephews.

This week's downs:

  • Hvorfor skal det lige pludselig være så koldt allesteder? / Why does it have to be SO COLD everywhere?
I was at the doctor's three days out of five. Nothing serious, I'm fine. It was just inconvenient.
  • Børnepasning bliver altid lidt mindre skægt, når det kombineres med migræne / Babysitting is always a little less fun when it's mixed with migrains.
Why is it that you can't go to a concert without it being ruined a bit by people acting stupid?

Couldn't have done without:

  • Min kæreste, som var sød til at skifte flere bleer end mig og tog sig af morgenfrisk nevø, mens jeg fik lov til at sove længe med migræne / My boyfriend who was nice to change more diapers than me and took care of his nephew all alone, while letting me sleep in with my migrain.
  • Varmt tøj (dog ikke varmt nok!) / Warm clothes (but not warm enough!)

Could've done without:

  • Migræne / Migrains

Next (well, this) week will be great because:

  • Fordi det er en relativt stille uge (jeg har i hvert fald ingen vilde planer, som det er nu) / It'll be a quite quiet week (I don't have that many plans as it is right now).

Sunday Look Back (Week #42)

This week has gone by too fast, but in a good way. Usually, in my life, weeks run by because I'm pretty busy, but this week just went by too fast, because I really didn't want it to end. I didn't have any lectures at the university and my sweet colleague asked me if she could take my day at work off my hands - which meant that I had the entire week off. Hello vacation! I'm not gonna say no!

This week's ups:

  • I had the week off - need I say more?
  • I went to my hometown and spend the entire week with my family. It was wonderful! Hadn't been home for months.
  • I had the chance to see several missed friends during the week.
  • Feeling loved! I know... I feel loved every single day, but one special thing made me smile: I was reading in the living room, my dad was making dinner in the kitchen. All of a sudden he comes in with a plate with a sliced orange for me - he just thought it would be nice. It's funny how the smallest things really makes you smile and makes you feel loved to the bone.
  • I decided NOT to bring any study-related litterature with me. For the first time since my summer vacation I've been reading something else! I read the Swedish crime novel "The Hypnotist" by Lars Kepler. I've always wondered what it is with Swedes and crime novels - maybe it's just here in Denmark, but if you say "crime novel" then you almost say "Swedish" at the same time. Anyway! I guess they know what they're doing; I was crazy about Stieg Larson's novels and "Tha Hypnotist" by Lars Kepler was a really nice (can you say nice about a book like that...?) book as well!
  • Coming back home: Back home to my family in Esbjerg but also coming back home to my boyfriend in Aarhus. It's really nice to see each other again after being apart and missing one another.

This week's downs:

  • Going to the dentist - it's just money I could've spent better myself.
  • The weather. It's been raining SOOOO much!

Couldn't have done without:

  • An umbrella!

Could've done without:

  • A bill from the dentist.

Next week will be great because:

  • I'll be going to a great concert Friday night!
  • My boyfriend and I are going to have a fun weekend taking care of his nephews.

A Tuesday Sunday Look Back (Week #41)

I have no idea if anyone really comes to this blog on Sundays just to read about my week. If anyone did last Sunday and got disappointed or confused - I'm sorry. I'm enjoying my holiday and really need the time off. When I had the time to do the Look Back-post I felt more like spending the day on the couch with a book. And when I had the energy to do the post I was walking around the oldest (prettiest and most charming - more pictures on that in another post) town of Denmark with my family. So here it is: A Sunday Look Back from Tuesday evening.

This week's ups:

  • I had a really nice cup of coffee on a not so nice day, that kindof made the day okay anyway.
  • I survived walking under a ladder. Twice. I'm not very superstitious, I just hope I wont get 14 years of bad luck or something...
  • My boyfriend and I went to the theatre twice this week - on Wednesday we sae "Mozart" at Aarhus Theatre and it was really good! The pretty building at the top of the picture is the theatre and the photo in the middle is the cieling inside. So pretty!
  • I still get surprised about how magical my "new" hometown Aarhus can be. Near the theatre a long line of old pianos was placed by someone. And passing people sat and played.
  • There's nothing that can brighten up your day like holographic glitter nails.
  • On Friday I said "Hello Holiday!"
  • I bought a pair of bordeaux converse all stars. On sale. Win!
  • I visited my grand parents at Ribe, the oldest and prettiest town of Denmark.

This week's downs:

  • I had to go to the doctor - which isn't all that bad, but I'm convinced she will convince me to stop taking birth control pills. Which isn't the worst thing in the world. It's just.... Well.... Different. And something to give thought. And the alternatives are "not as easy".
  • It's been an emotional and stressful week, but I guess that's just another up: it's over.

Couldn't have done without:

  • I know I say it all the time, but it doens't make it any less true: My boyfriend.
  • An understading boss.
  • And understanding friends and co-students.

Could've done without:

  • Doctors.
  • Rain.
  • Migrains.
  • Burning paper in the oven (but nothing happened! We just laughed and our apartment smelled like bonfire all night)

Next (well... actually this...) week will be great because:

  • I'll be at my parent's all week. I haven't been here for two whole months. It's a record and I've missed being here.
  • I'm having the entire week off!

7.10.12

Sunday Look Back (Week #40)

I'm not a fan of drawing the devil on the wall. I believe in positivity and am sure that smiles make smiles. Nevertheless drawing the devil was exactly what I did last Sunday. Somehow, however, I guess it helped me through, 'cause the week wasn't anywhere near as bad as I had pictured it to be. I've been very busy though and I guess the bulletpoints will be very few.

This week's ups:

  • That it all wasn't too bad after all.
  • I think we've (my boyfriend and I) made someone very happy when we said yes to babysitting - and I can't help to get happy when I make someone happy. Also I can't wait to a weekend filled with Disney movies and stuff like that!
  • I'm excited that a theater-stage finally opened again for the season!
  • I made myself great breakfasts and made sure I got enough sleep.
  • I let myself go all in on a very cosy night last night; lasagne, bezzerwizzer, grapes, hot chocolate with marshmellows, Danish "flødeboller" (which is... well, chocolate covered marshmellow, I guess... Kinda), Voice on TV and my sister came to visit!
  • I bought a piece of clothes in "one size" - I mean... How often does it happen that girls like me fit into "one size" clothes?

This week's downs:

  • I actually don't even know.

Couldn't have done without:

  • A lot of sleep
  • An understanding boss
  • An understanding boyfriend

Could've done without:

  • RAIN!

Next week will be great because:

  • I'll be going to the theatre again - yay!
  • And I'll be going home (to my parent's) for the first time in two months - yay!

30.9.12

Sunday Look Back (Week #39)

Another week has gone by faster than I wanted it to. And faster than I thought it would. It's been a nice week and especially the weekend made the whole difference. I'm already a little stressed out about next week (guess I'm not all that good at the "living in the moment that is now"-thing) - I just cannot see how I'm supposed to make ends meet. But in the end it all works out - and even if it don't; it'll work out anyway. Having said that; this post is meant to be about the week that has gone and not so much about the one that is to come (at least not the negative things..), so...

This week's ups:

  • I've had time to be a pretty good student this week. And I've had extra time to spend on relaxing which was nice.
  • I've had the most lovely weekend; I had a little time (and finally money) to shop friday afternoon, I enjoyed friday evening with my new fellow students, I spend all saturday afternoon down town with my boyfriend shopping for a reading lamp and eating at our favourite café and we spend saturday evening with my lovely, lovely friend. I haven't seen her since July (I think), when she went travelling in Asia.
  • She gave me a beautiful birthday present that she bought for me on her trip.
  • I bought some lovely shoes that I've been looking for for a long time.
  • I've been making good choices for me.
  • It's been raining a lot, but strangely enough I only got really wet from walking in the rain once. Yesterday we ran from store to store to buy an umbrella, but as soon as we bought a bright red one and went outside the rain stopped. Also when we were going to leave the café it was pouring down, so instead we stayed inside and bought hot chocolate (for me) and beer (for my boyfriend). As soon as we sat down again the sun came out. Strange weather.

This week's downs:

  • It's been raining a lot.
  • I've been having quite a few headaches.
  • I kept getting all the worst subjects in Bezzerwizzer last night ;)

Next week will be great because:

  • Because it'll go by fast, I guess. I should try to keep positive in this, but next week will be tough and I can't get around it by thinking positive. I won't hardly have time for anything and I'm already quite stressed out about how I'm going to fulfil my student part. And the "take care"-part.

23.9.12

Sunday Look Back (Week #38)

This week has gone by incredibly fast and I hardly remember what I've been doing - so if you're wondering why the following lists are unusually short it's just due to my "loss of memory" (or just.... an pretty much eventless week). I haven't even had time/inspiration to update my Instagram (You can find me there by searching "MaleneFL") so this week's picture is quite different. Me and my boyfriend just shot it today - I was sick and all. But I love it!

This week's ups:
  • After reading sentences like this (for a lecture on phenomenology - try to say it five times in a row, quickly!): "Habitus is that presence of the past in the present which makes possible the presence in the present of the forth-coming." (Bourdieu 2000: 210), I gave myself permission to spend a little money on me - and it felt so good! I bought things I'd been craving for a long time; nail polishes, burgundy jeans and two oversize sweaters that are already favourites of the fall. I'm planning on featuring it all on the blog soon - one of the sweaters will be on the blog tomorrow!
  • I had a wonderful time with my old study group/good friends friday night.
  • I was re-united with my friends of Wisteria Lane.
This week's downs:

  • Last night I had one of the roughest nights I can remember. I was really, really, really sick. Migrains, fever, shaking all over, crying, throwing up (and I swear; I never throw up). Luckily I had my boyfriend next to me, to take care of me and I feel better today. Not all good, but better.

Couldn't have done without:

  • My boyfriend holdning me, when I cried last night and getting me water and cold wash cloths for my forehead.

Could've done without:

  • Getting sick.
  • Instagram, obviously.

Next week will be great because:

  • I'll be seeing a long missed friend.
  • And.... because I said so!

16.9.12

Sunday Look Back (week #37)

This week has been full of ups and downs. I've been extremely happy, sad, stressed out, angry, I've been crying because I've was sad and crying because I was laughing so hard.

This week's ups:

  • I can't remember that I've ever laughed so much in my life as I did tuesday evening.
  • I feel like I've been a pretty good student this week - if I can say so my self (and there's no one else to say it for me)
  • I FINALLY GOT MY READING GLASSES!!!!
  • And I love, love, love them.
  • Today, to give an example, I have read more than a hundred pages and usually I would have a horrible headache by now - but I don't! At all. It's amazing. I know... I talk about it aaaaall the time, but it's just such a world changer for me. I actually ENJOY reading these days. Before it just hurt and took forever.

This week's downs:

  • My boyfriend was in an accident yesterday. He got hit by a car and ended up spending all day driving (with the people who hit him - turns out they were very nice people!) for several hours to get his tooth back in his mouth and getting checked up by a doctor. He's fine today, just a little soar and he gets the craziest stare when we go outside. Alright; he looks like he's been in a massive fight. With a car and the pavement. And he lost. Luckily nothing really terrible happened. That didn't keep me from crying for a few hours yesterday though. I was so worried.

Couldn't have done without:

  • My glasses! That's for sure. I had to read an entire book this weekend for tomorrow's lecture.
  • My phone, so I could keep in touch with my boyfriend yesterday and knew what was going on.

Could've done without:

  • Car versus bicycle accidents. The car (and the pavement) always wins.

Next week will be great because:

  • I'm going out with a group of friends I haven't seen since forever.
  • The last season on Desperate Housewives will be on Danish tv. I am very sad that it's the last season though. Very, very sad. (I would appriciate by the way if you DON'T tell me ANYTHING about it). ;)

9.9.12

Sunday Look Back (Week #36)

This week's ups:

  • My boyfriend got me Tina Dico's new album. I always get her albums the same day they come out (yeah, I'm that kind of nerdy fan...), but I had a terrible headache and was soooo tired, that I just had to go straight home after my lecture. But then he got it for me. He's the best.
  • School started again and so far I'm excited about this year's subjects. I am officially doing my master now. That's crazy.
  • I went to the doctor and got my free HPV vaccine.
  • I found the time (and energy) to go down town and experience a bit of this year's "festuge", which is a week of culture, music, theatre, parties and other fun stuff.
  • I found out that I need reading glasses - and I'm really excited about it. This weekend I've been using temporary (and blue!) glasses and they already turned my world around. Can't wait to get the real ones.
  • I finally got started on wrecking my wreck this journal.
  • Today I had a lovely afternoon celebrating my boyfriend's sister's boyfriend's birthday.

This week's downs (but somehow an up too):

  • I had a really hard time getting used to all the reading time that comes with my studies. I got really tired and had very bad headaches/migrains. But nothing is so bad, that it won't do any good and I think i figured it out; I need reading glassed. Hopefully it'll do me good. Now I'm just a little sad, that I didn't figure it out sooner, since I've been suffering from migrains more than once a week the last three years!

Next week will be great because:

  • I'll get my real glasses.
  • I'll have fun with my colleagues.
  • Hopefully I won't have any headaches.

2.9.12

Sunday Look Back (Week #35)

This week's ups:
  • My boyfriends birthday - he was so happy about his present!
  • I finished my three weeks of (more than a) full time job.
  • I've been to the most wonderful apartment.
  • My boyfriend and I went to the theatre.
  • I baked a lot of good stuff for my boyfriend's birthday "party" with his family today and we all had a great time.
  • I really don't like ladders, but I did the "balloon"-job anyway! I'm that cool. It's okay to be proud of yourself when you complete things like that, even though you're sure you'll hurt yourself/fall down/die....
  • I got a unexpected late birthday present from a friend of mine. I've been wearing that bracelet every day since.
  • I bought a nice cookbook with cake recipes. Just beautiful cakes (which is really ironic, since I'm planning on starting a diet tomorrow)

This week's downs:
  • The most wonderful apartment will never be mine.
  • I've been so, soo, sooo tired!

Next week will be great because:

  • My studies begin tomorrow!
  • Tina Dico's new album will be out tomorrow.
  • I'll probably, hopefully, have the time to relax.

26.8.12

Sunday Look Back (week #34)

Once again my lists will be very short, 'cause I basically spend all my time working!

This week's ups:

  • My friend finally came home from Asia! It's so nice to talk to her again.
  • The second of three weeks of fulltime work is over.
  • Me and my boyfriend had a few great, cosy evenings with good movies.
  • It's nice that my sister is closer! I've seen her twice this week and we'll go there as soon as I post this!
  • I'll probably never run out of tea....
  • I love the new single from Tina Dico! And I can't wait to hear her new album.

This week's downs:

  • I think summer has left the country for good.
  • I've been so tired all week from working a lot.

Couldn't have done without:

  • My sister
  • My boyfriend
  • My mum
  • My dad
  • My friend

Could've done without:

  • Rain!
  • Tired feet.
  • Evacuation at work.

Next week will be great because:

  • I'll have a few short days at work, which means more time for myself.

19.8.12

Sunday Look Back (week #33)

Compared to last week's bullet point overload this week will probably seem event less. This is because my holiday is pretty much over and this week (as the next two) is spend at work, about 45 hours a week. That pretty much sets the limit for exciting and varying things to happen. But I'm happy.

This week's ups:

  • The first of three weeks of fulltime work is over. And it went by quickly.
  • I like my job!
  • I finally have music on my iPod again.
  • Last sunday we made pizza on our Smokey Joe. And apparently we're making a Sunday tradition - we're doing it again tonight!
  • I bought great hair products to take better care of my hair.
  • I had a great night last night. I went out for dinner at a café with my boyfriend, listened to music and met nice people.
  • The weather has been great!

This week's downs:

  • The weather has been great - and I've been inside at work.
  • Today it is sooooo hot that I can't even relax in our apartment - 29,7 degrees; hello shadow!
  • I've been having a few "off days" - but I got through.

Couldn't have done without:

  • My boyfriend
  • Water
  • Nice music
  • Shadow

Could've done without:

  • Off days

Next week will be great because:

  • My friend will be home from to months of travelling
  • My littlesister will move to town!

12.8.12

Sunday Look Back (week #32)

This week's ups (Warning; there's a lot!):

  • Spending the first days of the week at my parent's.
  • I had a wonderful day with my mum and my boyfriend at the mall in Kolding.
  • ... Where I couldn't stop smiling at the pretty blue birds. Sometimes it's the small things, you know.
  • I felt like the younger me, when I couldn't resist from taking a picture with the blue sunnies.
  • American recipes can no longer keep me from baking, because of my measuring cup, that I got for my birthday.
  • Also I got to wear another birthday present; The pretty earrings from Pilgrim that my sister got me.
  • And another birthday present (from me to me); The Asos curve dress that I'm wearing here. It arrived friday - just in time for:
  • Me and my boyfriend's three years anniversary.
  • I had a few good days at work.
  • I coloured my hair.
  • And I was totally starstruck when Danish singer/songwriter Tina Dico became a follower of me on Instagram. I'm even blushing now.

This week's downs:

  • Taking your bike to work isn't all that fun when it's raining.
  • I really miss my friend who's been travelling for a (too) long time.

More ups:

  • I just figured out how to "draw" doodles on pictures, thanks to Katha. In case your wondering why I'm using doodles a lot - I'm just very excited about it.
  • I went to the beach with my boyfriend and my parents.
  • And took a lot of cute pictures (we don't usually see oisters at the beach here).

Couldn't have done it without:

  • My boyfriend.
  • A few days of summer.

Could've done without:

  • Rain.

Even more ups:

  • We had a wonderful day celebrating our "day of love".
  • And the weather was great!
  • We had delicious ice cream.
  • And the city was full of life, just the way I like it.

Next week will be great because:

  • Hopefully summer will stay a few more days.
  • I might be going home to my childhood town for a few great concerts.

5.8.12

Sunday Look Back (week #31)

This week's ups:
  • Recieving a postcard from a very missed friend.
  • I had time to catch up with a friend I haven't been talking to for ages.
  • I had a lovely day with my family in Aarhus before my sister and I....
  • ... Went to a great concert with Mads Langer and James Morrison.
  • My sister, my boyfriend and me went home to my parent's on my birthday. It feels so nice to be back home (that's the funny thing about moving away; you get to have two homes).
  • I love my birthday presents. I got great music, stuff for the kitchen, beauty products and lovely jewelry.
  • My boyfriend gave me these beautiful earrings (see picture above) that I've had on my "wish list" for several years (actually I didn't put them on my wish list, because they cost too much for a birthday present).
  • I cooked and baked all day yesterday for the birthday party for my family. And it was a succes.
  • I finished the Big Fat Summer Challenge and I'm proud of it.
  • I recieved an iPod that's not broken.
  • The sun has been shining a lot.
  • Today I've been enjoying that I have time to relax.
  • That I have so many bullets on "This week's ups".

This week's downs:
  • My feet really hurt after the concert, because we had been walking around town all day and standing up at the concert for almost four hours.
  • I finished the Big Fat Summer Challenge, which means I can't have fun with it no more.
  • It's been raining a lot.

Couldn't have done without:
  • A roof over my head to shelter me from the rain.
  • My family and my boyfriend.

Could've done without:
  • Headaches

Next week will be great because:
  • I'll probably recieve a beautiful dress from Asos.
  • I might get to wear my new blazer.
  • I'll celebrate our three years anniversary with y boyfriend.

29.7.12

Sunday Look Back (week #30)

Inspired by Katha's "Snaps of Happines"-posts I'm gonna give this "weekly summary"-thing a shot, because I think it's good to look back - especially on the good things. I'll see how these posts will turn out from week to week - and I guess; if they have to, the less happy things will find it's way into the posts as well, since life is full of ups and downs.

This week's ups:

  • I had a wonderful time with my sister in Barcelona!
  • After a week with my sister and away from home it was nice to come back to the arms of my boyfriend.
  • Summer in Denmark (which didn't last that long... Hope it'll come back. It'll come back.... right?)
  • Finally being able to make dinner on our new Smokey Joe for the first time.
  • I was able to do my hair like this two days in a row. That's a crazy succes since I'm really bad at doing my hair.
This week's downs:
  • I found out that my good English friend and I was in Barcelona at the same time for a few hours - after I came back.
  • My personalized iPod broke on the airplane on the way home.
  • Spending my Sunday with a migraine.
Couldn't have done without:
  • Sunscreen
Could've done without:
  • Well... migraine and a broken iPod
Next week will be great because
  • I'll have the next few days off
  • I'll be going to a wonderful concert with my sister
  • I'll turn 23 on Friday

Oh, and now we're at the more personal things; why not ask me something you want to know about me here?

6.5.12

Last sunday (Instagram style!)

All right; I know it's been a while since "last Sunday" but the thing is... I just recently learned how to do this thing with my photos from Instagram - so I just had to try it out now! You'll get to see how I spend my last Sunday, 'cause this Sunday was spent on work and that wouldn't be very interessting to look at. From now on I will probably use my Instagram posts to show you how my weeks go by.

Min kæreste og jeg spiste lækre flødeboller fra Summerbird - My boyfriend and I had delicious Cream Puffs from Summerbird // Jeg læste Under en Strålende Sol færdig - I finished the book A thousand Splendid Suns // Jeg kiggede lidt i denne fine etnografiske fotobog, som min kæreste købte til mig - I looked a bit in this nice ethnographic photo book which my boyfriend got for me

- Something was cooking for a looong time (and we're doing it again today!) - I did the dishes - you have to sometimes! And I drank a lot of different tea, because I was a little sick

- I listened to a lot of good music and (my boyfriend) updated my iPod (thanks hon'!) I thought about what I should read next, when I have the time... - Something was done cooking - steaming hot curry (and soon this day's curry will be done as well, yum!)
