Weekend moments: Food Festival 2013 #2

As I told you we "had" to go to the Food Festival again on Sunday. It was probably the last day of summer and we enjoyed it outside with a lot of great tastings - and quite expensive hotdogs. The Food Festival hosted the Danish Championship in hotdog making and the profits was given to charity. They were really nice and mine was made by people and with products from the area I grew up in and I was quite homesick when I ate it - the bread came from the baker my grandmother used to buy bread from.

We had so many great tastings - the big portion were mussels boiled with apple juice. The little
ones were smoked mussels marinated in chili/mango and beer.

hø-ost og hø-is.
Sunday was also the day for the national championsship in hay. Here we have lamb with hay, hay-mayo,
potato boiled in water with hay in it, hay-cheese and hay-icecream. I wasn't a fan of the icecram (but my
boyfriend was), but the rest was good!

Tapas inspired by southern Jutland - black pudding, apple, local cheese, chocolate and the cake called
"good advices".

We tasted a lot of nice Danish drinks - here's apple cider.

One of my favourite things at the festival was this softice made from "Skyr" with beetroot meringue on top.
It was so good!

We felt inspired and happy (and full) when we went home. And we're already looking forward to next year. What did you do this weekend?

Weekend moments: Food Festival 2013 #1

If you're living in my area you might know that Aarhus just had a Festival week. Just because. And part of  that was the Food Festival. It was all about great taste and Danish mainly organic products. This was my first year at the Food Festival and it was a great experience - just my type of festival, since I'm not into sleeping in tents and not being able to get a shower easily. There might have been a lack of good music, but there were actually a few people performing too, but there was nice food all over the place. If you were walking around hungry you only had yourself to blame! We went Friday and the weather was perfect. And we went again yesterday to enjoy the (propably) last day of summer. So I'm going to split this post into two, because I have so many pictures - and who doesn't like pictures of nice food?

Her spiser vi hel-grillet svin marineret i lakrids med tilbehør - lækkert!
Here's grilled pork marinated in liqourice - delicious!

How beautiful are these cauliflowers?
Beautiful and delicious lemonade from rhubarbs

Pretty honey with taste of chili, liqourice, ginger and cinnamon
The sun was shining and we had water and nice organic white wine

Muligvis jordens bedste chokolademælk!
Maybe the best chocolate milk in the world!
There was so many tastings on the Festival - we had free langoustines. So good!

Mums! Økologisk svin og bulgursalat.
Yum - organic pork with bulgur salad.

We ended day one with one of those pills. We got them by the anthropologists who looked into the concept of "taste". Is taste all in our mouths or do we taste with our other senses too? Can we feel, see or hear how food tastes? How does specific words taste? And can we trust our senses at all times? We chewed this pill waited a while and our tastebuds turned upside down. The rhubarbs tasted like apples and lemons tasted like sweet oranges. It was so weird and funny!

What's cooking?

My boyfriend and I fired our smokey joe up sunday evening. My mum gave me a pizza stone for my birthday and it was time to try it out! I'll (almost) let the pictures speak for them selves - but I have to add; it was good! I can't wait to do it again.

Warming up the stone / Making the crust
Pizza pepperoni before / And after baking
We made Italian buns with the dough left overs / Pizza with zuchinni, red pepper, sundried tomatoes and parmesan
Pizza with parma ham and parmesan / Buns after baking
